Dr. Andre Baptiste is Canadian and came in 1995 to the United States for dental school. Baptiste, known to locals as the owner and founder of Baptiste Orthodontics, is also referred to by his social media persona, Andre the Farmer, who has more than 481,000 followers on TikTok alone. He practiced general dentistry in Canada for a year following graduation before returning to the U.S. When he first came to the U.S., Baptiste could not own a business and had to obtain a green card. He worked for an orthodontist group in 2002, while it took six years to earn the green card.
After receiving the card in 2008, Baptiste bought one of the offices in which he previously worked. In 2010, he opened another office, which was the first Baptiste Orthodontics. A couple of years later, he turned the original office into a Baptiste Orthodontics. He most recently opened the third location in 2017 in Apopka. His garden has grown to encompass a plethora of fruits and vegetables, and has kick-started his gardening business, Permaculture Life, which sells environmentally responsible and sustainable apparel.
Kaitlyn Ross
Lead Enterprise Reporter 11 Alive,
She is a one woman show, meaning she shoots, writes and edits all of her own material. Kaitlyn is focused on community based stories in Atlanta, and the impact they have on the people who live here.
In 2022, Kaitlyn was honored to be named "Reporter of the Year" by the Georgia Association of Broadcasters. She has won regional Emmy and Murrow Awards for her reporting in Atlanta.
Kaitlyn joined 11Alive News from our sister-station in Jacksonville, Florida. During her three years in Jacksonville, Kaitlyn uncovered government corruption, discriminatory education practices, and flaws in the child welfare system. Through her reporting, Kaitlyn was able to help change state law and protect children in the sunshine state.
Before coming south, Kaitlyn started her journalism career in her home state of New York. Working in a few newsrooms upstate, Kaitlyn was a bureau chief, morning reporter, and political reporter. While she misses the people in New York, she certainly doesn't miss the winters, and is thrilled to be reporting in Atlanta.
Kaitlyn is a graduate of Syracuse University's Newhouse School, and is still an enthusiastic fan of the Orange!
She is a Board Member of Star-C, a nonprofit working to advance equity and safety for children across Atlanta. She is also a Board Member of The Children's Advocacy Centers of Georgia, a statewide nonprofit supporting the victims of child abuse and advocating for justice.
